pay scale + finance
while i wish we could tear down the fences, i don’t think we’re quite there yet. in the meantime, i want to work towards building accessibility and equity. i’ve benefitted from so many donation based and pay what you can classes and workshops; sliding scale pricing has absolutely made the difference for me between being able to join a program vs not. i'm familiar with the experience of asking for (and receiving) financial accommodations. the most comfortable scales i’ve seen and interacted with are a three tiered investment scale based on your own assessment of your financial experience: if you’re consistently able to meet a majority of your basic needs, you’d invest the true rate of the service; if you’re struggling to financial meet the majority of your basic needs, you’d invest the accessibility rate of the service; and, if you’re comfortably able to meet the majority of your basic needs, you’d invest the generosity rate. this investment/exchange model helps everyone get what they need to see the game. if there’s something different i could do to help you catch the game, too - reach out and ask.
a note on donation based offerings - mine and others - it’s about the exchange. the experience is about more than the amount; and still, the energetic exchange, the intention, the commitment - it matters. the amount of your donation is not required to reflect your enjoyment, value, and gratitude for the experience. whether you’re sending in $5, $50, or $505, let go of judging your dollar amount and lean into the energetic exchange.
